José Manuel Puente to receive an award from the Section on Venezuelan Studies of the Latin American Studies Association
LASA is the world's largest professional association that gathers individuals and institutions dedicated to studying Latin America. With more than 7,000 members (45% of which reside outside the United States) this organization unites experts of all disciplines in Latin America and diverse occupational areas worldwide.
Professor Puente commented that his paper was selected as the best paper of Venezuela in the past two congresses (2011-2012). “Several awards are handed out per country, depending on the category. One of the tenets of the paper is that Venezuela's potential is extraordinary if the huge incoming oil revenues were properly and wisely invested. I believe that what makes this paper attractive is that it portrays the current reality we are living in this nation and the case of Venezuela is very interesting for the international community”, he explained.
The award shall be handed to him next Thursday May 30 in Washington City, U.S.A.
